These past few days I’ve been trying to figure out whats wrong with me.
But i still can’t even figure out if i even have a problem, I guess I’m just trying to find something to do. But the only thing is, I cant do anything that use to interest me anymore. Which brings me back to my question (what is the difference between depression and boredom?). If anyone can can tell me what they think please don’t hesitate or hold back on commenting.

when im bored i useally just walk around the house..looking 4 something to do..watch tv moap..lol n sometimes just overeat cause there’s nothing to do.

when i get depressed though .,somehow i think up of all the things wrong with my life n how much of aloser i am,n how im non-social n my life’s shit..

lol..

boredem is when you wanna do something fun.

n depression is when the little emo inside everyone decides to come out n play

When do psychiatrists prescribe it to you? What are your opinions on anti-depressants? I have mild depression (tired all the time, negative thoughts, sad, feelings of worthlessness) and just wondering what level you need to be at to need medication.

Anti-depressants can be used at various levels. Some people experience a temporary depression (for a set period of time or due to an event in their life, etc) and need medication for a short time. Others need it for life as they have a permanent depression.

I’m wondering if you have tried things besides anti-depressants. Like participating in activities you enjoy. I know it’s hard to motivate yourself when feeling low, but it really does help. Also, being around people that make you feel good. I know it’s hard to think about doing these things when your mood is low, but sometimes you just have to force yourself.

A psychiatrist will prescribe you meds pretty quickly. After all, Dr’s get their cut of monies for it. Unfortunately most psychiatrists go straight to meds, instead of a more holistic view. Or, if you are prescribed the meds, you have to remember that they are not magic pills. You have to help yourself get better.

There is also the option of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which is proven to work well coinciding with meds or even alone. It just takes longer alone.
Basically CBT alone is proven to work, it just takes more time to start feeling better, but you have long lasting results.
CBT and medication are the fastest way to start feeling better and have long lasting results.
Then with medication alone you will not have nearly close to the results of the above mentioned.

I’m always hearing that the Great Depression was caused by a major drop in the stock market. Well, I never completely understood that, but no teachers ever gave me a good enough answer. How is it possible that everything in the stock market just happens to fail all at once? If there is more to the story then what I’ve mentioned, please explain that also. Thank you.

The Great Depression was not a sudden total collapse. The stock market turned upward in early 1930, returning to early 1929 levels by April, though still almost 30 percent below the peak of September 1929. Together, government and business actually spent more in the first half of 1930 than in the corresponding period of the previous year. But consumers, many of whom had suffered severe losses in the stock market the previous year, cut back their expenditures by ten percent, and a severe drought ravaged the agricultural heartland of the USA beginning in the northern summer of 1930.

In early 1930, credit was ample and available at low rates, but people were reluctant to add new debt by borrowing. By May 1930, auto sales had declined to below the levels of 1928. Prices in general began to decline, but wages held steady in 1930, then began to drop in 1931. Conditions were worst in farming areas, where commodity prices plunged, and in mining and logging areas, where unemployment was high and there were few other jobs. The decline in the American economy was the motor that pulled down most other countries at first, then internal weaknesses or strengths in each country made conditions worse or better. Frantic attempts to shore up the economies of individual nations through protectionist policies, like the 1930 U.S. Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act and retaliatory tariffs in other countries, exacerbated the collapse in global trade. Can both be treated by anti-depressants or is the depression caused by hypothyroidism treated by an adjustment to thyroid medication. I'm curious about the connection.

Usually they will adjust the thyroid medication. There's a difference in what part of the brain passages are affected, and the majopr difference is cause– clinical depression is caused by an imbalance of dopamine in the brain, thyroid depression may also involve imbalance of dopamine but the imbalance is caused by the thyroid condition.

I'm just wondering whether pundits and economists called it a "recession" or a "downturn" or other such euphemisms until long after it was over, when it was finally acknowledged to be a depression, or whether they called it a global depression right from the start.

The Oxford Dictionary of 20th Century words says the term 'depression' for a severe slump in economic activity was first used in 1934. The term 'depression' was first used in 1793 in an economic sense, but it was not used alone, instead it was used in expressions such as "depression of trade." Not sure when the the adjective "great" was added to describe the 1930's depression, but I would guess it was probably added years after it had ended. The word depression is an old word, dating back to the 14th century.

On a personal note, I gave it a try after suffering a severe allergic reaction to one of my favorite foods. I'm a 40 female with a 17mo baby… this started 4 years ago with a scratched cornea… intermittent waking with burning, but now it's BOTH eyes, severe burning/gravelly feeling in eyes waking me several times every night. I've been using saline and similisan dry eye or allergy eye relief along with homeopathic histamine…nothing seems to be helping and it's getting worse. Not so much a problem during the day, just when I'm sleeping. I'm guessing it's allergies OR dry eye, but I'm not sure anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no insurance so I can't just go from dr. to dr. until this is resolved. I would prefer not to use prescription drugs, anyway, if possible. I would like to find the cause for this and let my body heal itself.
UPDATE: Thanks to you who offered suggestions, I will try washing the laundry in plain water and see if that helps. I already use allergy-free detergent, but you never know! I also saw my chiropractor today (I'm seeing him for a birth related injury) and he adjusted my atlas/axis. Said it can cause dry eye (among other things) if it's out of adjustment. Here's hoping it works!

Hi, for the last 2 years I have suffered through acid reflux/GERD which was originally caused by H. Pylori. The reflux symptoms have lessoned quite a bit, from very severe to mild now. I had a homeopathic doctor recommend me to take PH Balance by Pascoe, which alkalizes your body, so for the past 2 months I have been taking this and its helped out a lot. They also said to drink aloe vera juice which helps heal the damaged tissue. The problem is, now that I don't experience the heartburn anymore(mildly), I am now always bloated, constipated, and have a weird sensation on the right side of my abdomen, it feels like theirs a lot of pressure. I was also getting a lot of red rashes around my body, but that seems to have gone away now.

I was just wondering if GERD/acid reflux can lead to any other conditions?

You also cannot just take the pills and eat lots of acidic foods, and expect your body to alkalize. I suggest reading more about acid and alkaline foods. Make sure your Aloe Vera juice is organic, and don't drink it for too long, because it is also a natural laxative, and you do not want your body to adapt to needing the laxative all the time.

It can lead to other things, depends on how severe your condition is, your age, and how long you had the disease. But I think you should go see a digestive specialist in your case and talk to him about your concerns he might have an EGD done to rule out other conditions caused by GERD. I didn't know all that stuff can calm acid reflux. Gotta buy me some aloe vera! I tried everything with GERD and nothing seems to work tremendously so the doctor is going to do that EGD test for me.
