sorry but it will probably last the rest of your life. this is not some bad mood you can just snap out of, it is a medical condition. just keep taking your meds and you’ll be fine.References :

I’ve had medical depression for the last 6 years, and about 3 years ago i stopped taking the medicine. I found that if i surround myself with people i love and care about, and if i get out of the house and do productive things in life, it gets better. Only time i still get depressed is when i’m alone and bored. So to answer your question, you can snap out of it, it just takes self motivation (usually a life changing event) to do it.References :

Remember, your not schizo, your sad. Try a lil solitude, in nature. Like far from others. Maybe rent an RV and maps a nice circle around the country.References : http://www.realknots.com/knots/noose.htm

I had cronic depression for about 3 or so years, i still get bad bout every now and then but im off my medication now. The best thing for me was making positive changes in my life, like changing my job and starting a uni course in something that i have always wanted to do i was not very confident but i tried as hard as i could and eventually things improved allthough it was a long road. Every time you start to think negatively jsut turn it around in to a positive i know its hard and you probably wont convince yourself at first but eventually it will work. I also found that if i listened to really happy up beat music when i was having a perticularly bad moment it rubbed off … the louder the better. And my heart goes out to you buddy being in that state for 15 years, you probably have forgotten what its like to genuinely enjoy life. Maybe go get some addrenilin into you, go for a skydive or something it will make you feel alive.References :

I don’t know much about clinical depression but it should be controllable if you take your medication as prescribed. By the way, your picture is HOT looking, why would a good looking guy like you be depressed?References :

I know there is no amount of information that I or anyone else can give you that can adequately address the personal pain and suffering you must feel each and everyday, and for that I am sorry. However, what I can do is just share what I know about this illness. First there are many classifications of depression. These may manifest themselves differently but in the end it’s still depression. The cure for depression should be looked at as more of a process than a “cure”. there are three phases of the process. The first being the acute phase. That’s when you are your worst mentally and physically. This is when you were diagnosed and medical intervention was first needed. The second phase is the continuation phase. This phase can have several shifts and changes which can bring you full circle from beginning to end and back again. This is where you try and prevent relapse through finding the rite meds and triggers to your depression. this may be where you are now. This is when you should seek out every chance for educating yourself about this disease. The third and final phase is the maintenance phase. This is were you have found the meds that work for you, are educated about the illness, are open to communication, and are actively staying healthy through diet, exercise, therapy, and surrounding yourself with healthy, positive people, as well as, staying well rested. This (stage) too is never ending. As you can see the “depression” itself is a process and needs to be treated as such. The promising thing is that you should always be reevaluated and with successfull maintenace you may be able to control the depression (under your doctors supervision) without your meds. You know people are delt there own deck of life “cards”. It’s how we play those cards that make a difference. Sometimes it’s luck and sometimes it’s pure skill. Try looking at playing your deck (depression) as a skill that you are mastering. Good luck in all you do and feel.References : second year registered nursing student with psych minor
