You could write your thesis on the physical complaints that patients describe when they have depression, because often patients don't just come right out and say "I'm depressed". It is usually a mix of symptoms such as headache, back pain, insomnia, and nausea. I'm sure there is a lot of information out there talking about this.References : I am a physician assistant in family practice for 5 years
For a good thesis statement you need to take a stance on something about the topic and then mention things that support and do not support your statement. If you google thesis builder there are websites that can help you build a thesis statement.
Ex. Even though there have been few clinical trials proving the efficacy of St. John's Wort for treatment of clinical depression it is a readily available cost effective treatment used by many Americans.
This is by no means a perfect thesis statement but that is what you need to do. I think it would be interesting to talk about how depression presents in men vs. women and the clinical impact of that.References :

I don't know a lot about thesis statements, but if I was researching the topic I would like to know what signs of clinical depression are environmental. Like how changes in the lifestyle of the general public has influnced clinical depression. Have the numbers really gone up in the amount of cases because more is being learned or because today's society provides more stress then it use to? Then there is always the questions about how environment and brain chemistry impact treatment and recovery. How effective can medication be if environmental factors are not changed? Just a thoughtReferences :
You cant just do it on the signs of clinical depression. a thesis statement has to take a stand on a particular issue- give an argument. find a problem to do with the signs of clinical depression- that they are hard to spot, that they are misinterpreted…
e.g. (roughly) there needs to be more education in society on the signs of clinical depression as many people are unaware of them and so go undiagnosedReferences :
