"Homeopathic treatment has been described, in which a substance called MSM powder has been used. There is no clinical research evidence that it helps, but it apparently does no harm when given."

    You could also try acupuncture.References : http://www.animaleyecare.net/diseases/equine_uveitis.htm

There are many website that have information on this. I have known a number of horses with this problem and they are successfully treated and are still able to be useful for riding.

You said you asked your vet but you did not say what your vet said to you… be careful with whatever treatment you do as sometimes it may interact with what your vet is doing… Be sure you vet knows EXACTLY what you are going to do and WHY (if you read it somewhere, print it out and show it to your vet)

If you believe in homeopathic treatments and your vet does not then you have two choices; don't go homeopathic or choose a different vet. DO NOT start giving your horse something without permission from your vet as the two different medicines can actually cause HARM to your horse.

There are many vets who practice homeopathic medicine so you should definetly work with one of those vets if your own vet is not helpful.

Also, keep in mind that your vet is going to do the absolute best that he/she can and I'm sure they are doing the best possible to save your horse's eye…. and if it does come to the point that your horse does have to lose his eye it doesn't mean he can't still do stuff…. I have known several horses that have lost their eye and still been great pets, riding horses and even show jumpers!

Hope This Helps – I wish you the best!References :

    I'd refer you to http://www.Rollingdogranch.com

This is an animal sanctuary for horses, dogs, cats, etc., located in Montana. They deal specifically with animals with disabilities.

They currently are working with the top equine ophthalmologist in the country dealing with Appaloosas with visual problems and Appys that are going blind or are currently blind. They have a website dedicated to blindness in Appaloosas. Great people with a wealth of knowledge.. They would be more than happy to share some information with you!!References :
