I was diagnosed by a doctor with moderately severe depression recently. I'm confused, is this the same as the others i've mentioned? If not, what are the differences?
Hi,
To cut to the chase, BIPOLAR (as you might already suspect) means “two poles” and is simply the new “in” word for Manic Depression where a person cycles between “very big highs” (mania) at one end of the ‘pole’ and “very low Lows” (depression) at the other end of the ‘pole, which is a far wider range than most other peoples – and it lasts for more than a couple of weeks.
Many famous and highly intelligent people have/had manic depression including Sir Winston Churchill, Stephen Fry, Carrie Fisher, Spike Milligan, Ben Stiller, DMX and many others. Managed properly, it can be lived with, and in fact because the “mania” (the highs) are so exhilarating, most manic viagra order depressives wouldn’t swap their manic depression for being normal. There are three treatments for Bipolar, and only one of them involves antidepressant drugs.
Normal Depression is a bit different.

Clinical depression is a very extreme form. Moderately severe is less extreme than clinical and manic depression (otherwise known as bi-polar disorder) is ranging from extremely happy emotions to extremely depressed emotion. They are all different.References :
it is a fact that EVERYONE will be depressed at some point in their life but that does not mean it s clinical or manic….clinical and manic are because of a chemical imbalance of the brain and is not treatable. There s medication to contain and balance it but most of the time it will last your whole life. Severe depression is treatable and usually wont last forever. As for the difference Manic is when you go from extreme highs to extreme lows very quickly and depression is where you are mostly just sad.

With medication, surrounding yourself wth happiness and trying to make life worth it then you should oversome this…Good Luck
Manic depression (bi polar) is not the same as clinical depression or situational depression. The degree of the depression makes no difference, manic depression is entirely different and not what you have.
Bi polar is where you have huge up's followed by enormous downs. Be thankful you don't have that. I hope you are soon well againReferences :
No they are quite different. Moderately severe depression is less severe than manic depression (named for the manic "high" followed by the terrible depression).
I have suffered with depression in the past, and found it useful to try to stay focused on what is happening around me, so far as to list (in my head) what I can see, hear, smell etc. Otherwise I would get tied up with my thoughts and the more internal I got, the deeper the depression would feel.
I have found in the past that the Depression Alliance were extremely helpful in understanding and coping with my depression. Hope this helps!References : http://www.depressionalliance.org/
