manic depression is bi poler, though manic depression is not commonly used anymore.

Talk to a health advisor/doctor and you can get checked. Can also take depression tests online which you can print out and show to a professional.

If your mood is effecting you daily to a point where it is disrupting your life, you likely have depression. Be wary of medication, it is hit and miss sometimes, and only a short term substitute.

Bipolar is another way of referring to manic depression. Borderline personality disorder means that the individual has some, but not all, of whatever the disoder happens to be.

Your question is interesting in that the DSM which is used by psychiatrists to classify a mental illness is all a matter of conjecture and opinion. One big guess really. There is no physical test to determine that one has a particular form of mental illness. Combine this with the fact that the DSM is a changing manual. What was considered a mental illness in the previous edition may be considered normal in the revised edition.

Only your doctor can diagnose depression? Nonsense! Only YOU can diagnose YOUR depression. Only your doctor can prescribe medication. This is one of many reasons that I advocate abolishing the prescription drug laws.

First part is correct, sceond part is completely wrong. Borderline personality disorder is an Axis 2 personality disorder that shares many symtoms in common with Bipolar, but is a distinct condition.

Bipolar is a physical condition that responds to drugs, Borderline is usually treated by Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Depression with anxiety can be mistaken for a bipolar mixed state in some cases.

The only person who can make a diagnosis is a psychiatrist.
