Well, depression can show up anytime but I believe postpartum depression is within the first few months. If you had the baby recently your highs and lows may just be the normal hormone fluxes that childbirth causes and not necessarily depression (I say this because you have a high and not just constant lows). If you are concerned about the lows you should really speak to your doctor.References :

They normally say that postnatal depression sets in in the first 12 months but they picked mine up when my son was 2 months off being 2. It is totally normal to feel highs and lows.
If you're feeling rough talk to someone and let the right people know and they will be able to give you the correct advice.
Please talk to someone…I didn't and had a total nervous breakdown. Crisis teams, meds, hospitals, the works.
If you do have PND then it is totally fixable. It is a non permanent state and you WILL get better.
