It is normal to go through periods of depressions for your entire life. I would imagine that teens have more pressure on them than adults in many ways so they probably have it more often. But it is not diagnosed as often because parents don't normally take their teen to a physician.References :
The teenage years are painful for most people. Teens experience mood swings, so when you are sad you are really sad and when you are happy you can feel like you are flying.
As for your percentage it depends on what type of depression you are talking about. Mild bouts of depression are probably experienced by most teens. If we are talking about clinical depression, the percentage is smaller. Depression becomes clinical when it is ongoing over a period of time and interferes with your everyday living activities.References :
For me it is, I mean maybe your just tired of something and you want to stop it awhile, or maybe you think that your life sucks, but trust me it will get better in a few days, just find the problem, and get rid of it.References :
As a teenager your hormones are playing a major role in your life and because i too am a teen, i know how hard it can be. I am often faced with so many emotions but i have noticed that i feel a lot of depression. I do not worry though because it is expected at this age.
Natural ways to lower this depression would be getting a godo night sleep and sleeping on a schedule. also you should eat a healthy diet and participate in sports. Though sports can cause stress on top of school the confidence and satisfactiong you can gain from playing a sport will help you feel important.
You are welcome to talk to your doctor about it but I am not going to tell you to go on anti-depressents because they cause suicidal behavior more than help. Im sorry to say this but depression is a feel felt by most teenagers. The best thing you can do is to talk to your friends about it. However, if you feel that it is sever please do talk to your doctor. All i am saying is that what your feeling may not be groudns for going on a pill that is so risky.References :

How many? Well, from personal experience, me and every other teen I was friends with at the time, so there ya go.References :
yeah it is normal… you know teens go through so many bodily changes.. and all the hormones that they secrete may provoke depression! but if it is clinical depression, you should better get it diagnised!References :

First of all, what is normal? You could say, is it "normal" to have depression as a teen or is it "normal" not to have depression as a teen? It's that word normal.
Depression has nothing to do with age. Yes, teens can have depression. There are different levels of depression, as one person can have a serious problem with depression, while another person will feel depressed during a certain time of the year, like winter when there isn't as much sunshine as there would be in the summer. People may go into depression when a loved one dies. However, with time they will slowly come out of their depression.
I don't know percentages/ how many teens have depression, and that's not the issue here. Besides you can't go by percentages. You can only go by how you feel.
Being bored doesn't come under the stats for being depressed. Get up and move around and find something interesing to do.
If you feel sad most of the time and don't know why, that could be one indecation regarding depression. Are you bored or is it that you just don't have the drive to want to do anything?
There is a differenct (bored) between the two.
Depression can also be a part of another mental illness.
If you want to know all there is to know about depression, I suggest you talk to you family, who in turn can make an appointmen to see your family doctor.
Don't go around asking other teens if they have depression or
ask them what depression is. You may or may not hit the right person who knows about depression.
What you want to do is get the correct information from a doctor who can explain everything you need to know. This would be a good time to ask the doctor about anything you want to know.
Take care of yourself and go to see a doctor.References :
Most teens suffer from depression, but you don't hear much about it, cause no one wants to admit it. It's normal to feel
that way. At your age, you don't have alot of life experience and coing with all the pressures that come your way are hard
for you to deal with. Teens have more pressure than adults.
As you get older you will understand what I mean. Kids can
be so cruel to eachother. I don't have a percentage for you,
but it's normal for a teen to be depressed.References :
